New permanent lighting will be unveiled today at a Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg athletic field in South Allison Hill, thanks to a $100,000 gaming grant awarded by the Dauphin County commissioners.

The lighting will allow the Mark & Betty Butler Field in Cal Ripken Sr. Youth Development Park to be used in twilight and evening hours, offering recreational activities to help keep teens and young adults off the streets.

The improvement will be unveiled at a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. today at the field, located at 1227 Berryhill St.

Under state gaming law, Dauphin County is required to use a portion of the slots revenue it receives from Hollywood Casino for grants to municipalities.
