MARISSA HOOVER, DIR. of DEVELOPMENT & ALUMNI RELATIONS - PENN STATE HARRISBURG

Marissa currently is the Director of Development and Alumni Relations - Penn State Harrisburg. She was the former Senior Woman Administrator, Athletics and Head Coach Women’s Basketball. Marissa Hoover is no stranger to winning. A multi-sport athlete in high school, Marissa led her basketball, softball, soccer and track teams to numerous conference and division championships. As a Penn State Women’s basketball player her winning continued, garnering championship rings for the 1998 Women’s NIT, the 2000 Big Ten Championship, and the 2000 NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four.

Marissa Hoover is no stranger to winning. A multi-sport athlete in high school, Marissa led her basketball, softball, soccer and track teams to numerous conference and division championships. As a Penn State Women’s basketball player her winning continued, garnering championship rings for the 1998 Women’s NIT, the 2000 Big Ten Championship, and the 2000 NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four.

She continued her basketball career after college playing a total of 7 years and earning All-Star recognition for both the WABA’s Scranton Scream and the WEBA’s Harrisburg Horizon. Marissa also started the Penn State Harrisburg Women’s Basketball team in 2005 where she led the new squad to 2 conference final four appearances and the Championship game in her 2 years as a head coach.

She was a winner in the classroom as well graduating with honors in both high school and college, and being honored at Penn State three years in a row as a GTE Academic All-American nominee.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education a Master’s Degree in Sport and Recreation Administration, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education, researching Smart Home Technology.

She works full time as the Director of Development and Alumni Relations for Penn State Harrisburg where she has secured academic scholarships, program endowments, and funding for new facilities and exceeded the unit fundraising goal every year for 14 years.

In addition Marissa lends her time and talents to coach her son’s AAU basketball team, helps secure resources for the Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg, serves on University’s Diversity Committee, Co-chairs the College’s Commission for Women, and was a founding member of the Alliance of Women Coaches which recently rebrand itself as WE COACH.
