Mark has also been involved with Milton Hershey boys’ basketball team for fourteen years, six as an assistant and now eight years as the head coach. He and his staff have led the Spartans to an impressive 131-54 record with seven consecutive winning seasons as well as seven consecutive District 3 playoff appearances. MHS has also reached the PIAA State tournament in 2016, 2017 and again in 2018. The Spartans won their Mid-Penn conference champion in 2013, 2016 and again in 2018. The 2018 team were also the PIAA District 3 5-A Champions (3rd in school history). The Spartans final record was 26-6 which proved to be the second best finish in MHS school history.
Coach Zerbe was the 2018 recipient of the Abe Garner Outstanding Coach Award and also the PennLive Coach of the Year Award. It is also worth noting that under Coach Zerbe’s leadership, the Milton Hershey School Spartans were the recipients of the prestigious Crawford Hunter Memorial Sportsmanship Award. This is the highest award voted on by the Central Pennsylvania officials, and the Spartans won the award a record four times in six years (2011, 2013, 2014, & 2016)
Mark and his wife Jamie have two daughters, Kylie (18) and Devon (14) and reside in New Cumberland, PA.
