NOVEMBER 1, 2019 @ the HILTON HARRISBURG
Reception @ 5:30pm • Dinner @ 6:30pm
One of the ways we ensure that we can serve our children is through the fundraising efforts of our annual gala. This year’s gala promises to be ‘Out of This World.’
We are bringing Dr. Bernard Harris, Jr., the first African American astronaut to walk in space, to share his inspiring story of success and determination at the gala.

WHO WE ARE
The Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg was founded as a part-time venture in 1939 at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Harrisburg, initially serving 75 boys. In 1943, under the direction of Robert Clemments, the Club's first professional director, the Club began its full-time operation in a one-room building at its present site on Berryhill Street, serving 200 boys. The same year the Club acquired 3.5 acres of land adjacent to the original building.
TESTIMONIALS
The Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg values of trust, mentorship, caring, teamwork, and safety and we know that making a difference begins at the community level.
Before moving to Harrisburg, I knew absolutely nothing about the Boys & Girls club organization or what it was. Becoming a member at age 16 and also in trouble all the time, to where I was question if I was able to attend, I was brought to the club and was given the opportunity to encounter new people and challenges, and learn things about my self that I never knew before. I was also presented the opportunity to have employment there to where I mentored, learned basic work habits, and even learned interesting stuff within my self that I improved and that made me a better person. To this day, I thank three main people who I can say has been there and supported me through the negative and positive times in my life since associated with the Boys & Girls Club.I want to give a big shout out to Mr. David Smith, Mrs. Yvonne Hollins and Mr. Mark Hawthorne for being there and supporting me down my journey I took and have more to take.

Talk about a diamond in the rough; besides the baseball field - which is world-(series') class - watch for the brilliance from youth arising from exposure to this gem as they're cut from a sphere to influence neighbors and bring a sparkle to an area in which to mount a revival!Kudos to the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg helping shape the children, for the best exposure, and who will likely be the future leaders of Harrisburg!

We volunteered here for the United Way Day of Caring on September 8, 2017. What a wonderful place for children to be! The staff is so caring and kind. It was a pleasure getting to meet them and help out that day with cleaning and weeding and the lunch they served was delicious! Thank you BAGC!KRIS EISENBISE
