Boys & Girls Clubs of Harrisburg's work has been recognized by leading corporations locally and regionally. These caring corporate citizens have partnered with us to find innovative ways to help Harrisburg's young people reach their full potential.
We personally know the potential of our youth as parents, family and friends, but also understand our corporate partners are involved closely and have the utmost confidence in supporting our programs. We want to thank Giant Food Stores, LLC for your support.
FEEDING AMERICA
Everyone deserves a full plate. Through our partnership with Feeding America–the nation’s largest organization dedicated to fighting domestic hunger–and partnering with five regional food banks and over 100 local food banks, we’re dedicated to eliminating hunger as far and wide as possible.
BAG HUNGER
Twice a year our team members partner with our customers for a fundraising campaign at our registers. At checkout, customers are asked to donate $1 or more to help their local food bank or pantry. Since 2008, The GIANT Company’s Bag Hunger fundraising campaigns have raised more than $12.7 million. With every $1 helping to provide at least 10 meals according to Feeding America, that’s more 127 million meals.
PROVIDING PROTEIN
One of the greatest challenges in the fight against hunger is ensuring that those in need receive enough protein to fulfill the requirements of a balanced diet. The GIANT Company tackles this challenge head-on, with our Meat the Needs program, which has donated over 10 million pounds of meat to regional food banks.
CARE GROWS HERE
The work we do means a lot to us, and we’re proud to do it together as a team.
The Boys & Girls Club of Harrisburg would like to thank the entire Giant Foods Stores, LLC for their love and support of our organization. Youth are 38% more likely to believe that school work is meaningful when they have an optimal Club Experience. This is according to BGCA youth outcome data. This is a main factor of why our partners believe in us and more importantly they believe in the future of our Harrisburg Youth.
